Martin Cenek Architecture operates as a small architectural practice in Prague, established in 2008 by Martin Cenek. The studio focuses on residential projects and interior design, emphasizing sustainable building practices and energy efficiency.
Cenek, born in 1982, holds degrees from the Faculty of Architecture at Czech Technical University and worked in Rome with GAP architetti associati and Archea associati between 2006 and 2008. He holds registrations with both the Czech Chamber of Architects and the British ARB. Between 2011 and 2013, he led the CTU team in the Solar Decathlon 2013 competition. The practice also offers architectural photography services.
The studio's notable work includes the Under the Star Game Reserve residential complex in Liboc, completed in 2022. This project comprises three buildings totaling 1,910 square meters on a 2,883 square meter plot along Libocká Street. The complex features an investor's villa, a four-unit apartment building, and a smaller family house, all built to passive house standards. The site presented particular challenges with a fourteen-meter height difference and an exposed sandstone cliff dividing the property.
Design characteristics across projects include exposed concrete ceilings, white plaster surfaces, oak flooring, and minimalist built-in furniture combining white lacquer with natural oak veneer. The practice emphasizes monolithic reinforced concrete construction, air-to-water heat pumps, and ventilation with heat recovery systems.
The studio collaborates with specialized engineers for structural, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and fire protection work to provide comprehensive design services from initial concept through construction supervision.
