Wonderwoods is a mixed-use development in Utrecht’s Beurskwartier, beside Utrecht Central Station, designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti and MVSA Architects as part of the area’s urban regeneration. Its developer is G&S&, part of VolkerWessels; the project’s two towers were designed by Stefano Boeri’s studio and by MVSA, led by architect Roberto Meyer. 54
The development comprises two towers, approximately 104 and 70 metres high, with a combined area of about 80,000 square metres. 5 Its programme includes 167 owner-occupied homes, 252 rental apartments, 14,700 square metres of office space, restaurants, a gym, and bicycle and car parking, alongside a shared mobility hub. 5 The buildings connect living and working spaces with leisure and commercial facilities.5
Green spaces are a defining part of the design: the project includes a vertical forest, a rooftop park and interior gardens, with around 300 trees and 75,000 plants and shrubs. 5 A bridge links the towers, with gardens and restaurant space also incorporated into the development. 411
The project was delivered in October 2024, and Stefano Boeri Architetti’s project page says it was inaugurated in early 2025. 5 The available project sources identify 2020 as a project date, but do not give a separate founding date.
