MasCobado is a resident-led housing project in the ZAC des Grisettes, Montpellier, in southern France. The residents’ group formed in 2010, and the project was selected following a city call for proposals in April 2012. 81112
The completed development comprises 23 homes in two buildings. Its tenure mix includes nine homes for open-market purchase, nine under the assisted-ownership PSLA scheme, and five social-rental homes. Promologis, a social housing company, carried out the project and managed the social-rental units; the residents’ association and Promologis formalised their partnership through an agreement. 2311
Residents took part in planning and designing the development, including the future social tenants. The shared facilities include a multi-purpose room, three guest rooms and laundry areas; outdoor communal spaces include a vegetable garden and play area. The project also established resident involvement in the ongoing management of the buildings. 2310
The project received support through the national “Logement Design pour tous” programme. Construction began in 2015, and the homes were delivered in July 2016. MasCobado received a Gold-level Bâtiment Durable Occitanie assessment across design, construction and operation phases. 341012
