La Rosaleda Cohousing is an intergenerational housing cooperative in Algezares, a district of Murcia, Spain, less than five kilometres from Murcia city centre and near the Regional Park of El Valle and Carrascoy.310 The cooperative was formed in spring 2022 by people from the Murcia Cohousing association who wanted to establish a community near the city.12
The project is being developed by La Rosaleda Cohousing S. Coop., a social-initiative, non-profit cooperative that will own the building. Members will have use of their homes and shared facilities while they remain in the cooperative, rather than owning individual units.35 The group’s stated aims include supporting everyday mutual aid and social connection through a community designed and managed by its members.4
The planned development comprises 26 one- and two-bedroom homes on a site of nearly 2,000 square metres. Plans include shared indoor and outdoor areas, garages and storage, as well as gardens and a pool.810 The design is intended to support private living alongside communal activities; the project describes its approach as bioclimatic and focused on energy efficiency.712
Key people named in project-related presentations include cooperative president M.ª Carmen Alcaraz, architect José Luis Francos Manresa, and project manager Antonio Luis García-Córcoles.1011 The project received a public grant of €858,383, according to the regional government, and is intended for housing under rental, use-transfer or temporary-use arrangements.89
