Ellener Hof, also known as Stadtleben Ellener Hof, is a housing and neighbourhood development in Osterholz, Bremen, Germany. The Bremer Heimstiftung is developing the project on a site of almost ten hectares, in cooperation with the City of Bremen. Work began in 2018. 13
The plan is for around 500 homes for people with different housing needs and incomes, including students, older people, families, and people living alone. The project also includes publicly subsidised housing; the cited sources give different counts, ranging from about 100 to 200 units. 134 The wider neighbourhood is planned to include social and cultural facilities, green spaces, and services. Its mix of uses is intended to support interaction among residents and make the area accessible to different generations and communities. 13
Timber construction is a defining feature: buildings are being constructed in multi-storey timber or timber-concrete hybrid forms. The project profile estimates that this approach could reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 320 tonnes compared with conventional construction. 1 The plans also include varied housing types, from terraced houses to apartment buildings, and a network of paths intended to support walking and cycling. 17
Project development is led by the Bremer Heimstiftung; the planning team named in the project profile includes Atelier PK Architekten and De Zwarte Hond. 1 A 2025 report stated that more than 250 homes were complete, with further construction still under way. 11
