Tham & Videgård Arkitekter is an architectural studio headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, led by co-founders Bolle Tham and Martin Videgård. The practice was established in 1999 and currently counts around 15 staff, including the two founders. Tham and Videgård first collaborated at architecture school in Stockholm before formally launching their studio, aiming to introduce new ideas to Swedish architecture.
Their approach is marked by experimentation and specificity to context, resulting in buildings recognized for precision rather than spectacle. The Kalmar Museum of Art, completed in 2008, brought the firm national attention, followed by notable projects like the Moderna Museet Malmö and the KTH School of Architecture in Stockholm. Both the Kalmar Museum of Art and KTH School of Architecture have won Sweden’s Kasper Salin Prize, the country’s highest accolade for architecture.
The firm's portfolio spans education facilities, art museums, housing, exhibition design, and unconventional projects such as the celebrated Tree Hotel in Harads, a mirrored glass structure suspended in forest. Currently, Tham & Videgård is engaged in projects including the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts in Gothenburg, refurbishment of Stockholm’s Gasworks district, the Mess Building at Karlberg Castle, as well as significant schemes abroad in Paris and Prague.
The studio has participated in international exhibitions, such as Venice Architecture Biennale and a retrospective at ArkDes in 2022. Its founders are members of the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts and have been active educators and lecturers globally.
