STUDIOTAMAT is an architecture and design studio founded in Rome in 2014 by Tommaso Amato, Matteo Soddu, and Valentina Paiola. From its inception, the studio has focused on finding a balance between the usability of space and the functional qualities of materials, an approach that characterizes its residential and hospitality projects across Rome and its surroundings.
The studio’s method involves detailed, site-specific interventions, with a core team that collaborates closely with artisans and specialist contractors. Their projects encompass residential renovations, hospitality ventures, restaurants, and interior refurbishments. Examples of their work include the transformation of a late 19th-century Liberty-style house in Rome’s Trastevere district into an 80-square-meter urban retreat, completed in 2024, and the “House on Track,” a 95-square-meter apartment renovation in the multi-ethnic Esquilino district, finished in 2024. Notably, for the hospitality sector, they renovated Condominio Monti, a boutique hotel near the Colosseum, and designed Tre de Tutto, a bar and restaurant in the Garbatella neighborhood.
STUDIOTAMAT’s ongoing work involves a flexible team which adapts to each project, with current commissions including a private apartment near Via del Corso and a villa in Sabaudia’s Journalists’ Village. They have also initiated OFFTAMAT, an event series dedicated to collaborative design among creatives, artisans, and manufacturers. The studio maintains a rooted presence in Rome while engaging with themes of restoration, urban renewal, and creative synergy.
