Raumteiler eG is a housing cooperative based in Essen, Germany, established to build and manage a shared home in the city’s Rellinghausen district. The cooperative describes itself as a small, single-house organisation. Residents moved into the Raumteilerhaus in early 2023. 12
The project grew from a group that began organising around a shared-housing idea in 2017; it adopted the cooperative legal form in 2018. A project account names Frau Goretzka and Frau Dilekli as representatives who presented the cooperative, but the sources reviewed do not identify its founders or current board members. 12
The cooperative’s purpose is to provide intergenerational, socially mixed housing and manage its building. Members provide equity by purchasing cooperative shares; non-residents may also support the project through investment. Residents who join have one vote each at the members’ assembly, regardless of apartment size or shares held. Members can also participate through the board, supervisory board and voluntary working groups. 111
The cooperative says members have lifelong occupancy rights and that housing charges are intended to remain affordable and independent of the rental market. Its building combines privately financed and publicly subsidised homes, with an emphasis on ecological, energy-efficient construction. Its work is centred on one residential project in Essen; the available sources do not indicate activity beyond that local scope. 112
