Krone Bochum eG is a housing cooperative based in Bochum, Germany, created to provide members with secure housing and support community-led, ecological and self-determined living. Its statutes date the cooperative’s founding to 10 May 2015 and place its registered seat in Bochum.4
The cooperative took part in developing a three-part residential complex on Kronenstraße in Bochum-Ehrenfeld, alongside Wohnprojekt Krone UG and Luczak Architekten. The project followed a city land-allocation process launched in 2015; construction began in February 2019, and the cooperative’s building was completed in early July 2020.3
Members moved into the new cooperative building in summer 2020. It contains 21 apartments of different sizes, designed to meet residents’ varied needs; the cooperative’s website reports 36 members, including four families with children, and residents spanning working and retirement ages.1 The wider complex also includes rental and owner-occupied housing, including subsidised apartments, and a neighbourhood meeting space.6
Residents manage shared aspects of cooperative life, with communal spaces and outdoor areas supporting meetings and informal contact. The cooperative describes self-management that includes financial matters and the care and repair of the building, as well as activities intended to connect residents with the surrounding Ehrenfeld neighbourhood.7 Its scope is local, centred on housing and neighbourhood life in Bochum-Ehrenfeld.13
The listed board members are Katharina Briggs, Robin Köhler-Kelzenberg and Eva-Maria Ranft; Anita Winter chairs the supervisory board.2
