Arrhov Frick Arkitektkontor is an architecture office based in Stockholm, Sweden, founded in 2010 by Johan Arrhov and Henrik Frick, both graduates of the KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Carlos Nieto Cid became a partner in 2017. The practice has gained recognition for its consistent exploration of clear, logic-driven architecture, intentionally reducing design to essential elements determined by structural and programmatic needs rather than aesthetic manipulation.
Arrhov Frick’s portfolio ranges from small private houses in the Swedish archipelago, such as the pared-back, stilted Viggsö cabin and the Six Walls House near Stockholm, to larger complex commissions. Their work frequently exhibits minimal intervention in the landscape and focuses on straightforward, adaptable structures that can serve evolving functions and encourage sustainability through longevity.
Recent work includes the redesign of the exhibition halls at ArkDes, Sweden’s national centre for architecture and design in Stockholm. Here, Arrhov Frick reused between 70–100% of existing materials in the exhibition halls, transforming old structures into new forms and emphasizing the office’s pragmatic approach and commitment to reducing resource consumption. In 2023 and beyond, projects include private residences, retail environments such as the Our Legacy store in London, and a finalist proposal for a new church in Trondheim.
Arrhov Frick participates actively in academic circles, giving international lectures and publishing in respected architecture journals. The studio maintains about a dozen staff and continues to receive nominations and awards for its methodical, research-driven projects.
