Zukunftsort Dransdorfer Berg is a planned socio-ecological neighbourhood project in Dransdorf, in northern Bonn, Germany. It is being developed cooperatively by Montag Stiftung Urbane Räume, the Neue Stadtgärtnerei e.V. association and the City of Bonn on the former municipal nursery site, which has largely been vacant since 2004. 1
The site is at Auf dem Dransdorfer Berg 76, north of Meßdorfer Feld. The project’s origins go back to 2017, when a group that became the Neue Stadtgärtnerei initiative began exploring the site; the group started discussions with the foundation in 2019. In 2022, Bonn’s city council adopted a resolution to prepare the site’s allocation to the partners under heritable building rights. 1
The plans bring together a neighbourhood building, community-led housing and urban agriculture. Montag Stiftung Urbane Räume is developing a building of around 4,000 square metres of gross floor area under its Initial Capital model. Potential uses include offices and environmental-education seminar rooms, care-related facilities, a café and training-oriented commercial space. The foundation’s initial development support is intended to enable uses that can operate sustainably and generate a surplus for the neighbourhood; the specific mix remains subject to further planning. 1
Neue Stadtgärtnerei plans community housing with social housing for around 100 people, alongside urban agriculture using an agroforestry model and related educational activities. The City of Bonn is responsible for formal planning, including preparation of a development plan. A design by Cityförster and Treibhaus Landschaftsarchitektur was recommended as the basis for further planning in June 2025; the city plans to prepare the development plan by early 2028. 1
