Wohnbauten Linde-Quartier is a completed rental-housing development in Mainz-Kostheim, the southernmost district of Wiesbaden, Germany. It occupies part of the former Linde AG industrial site, within a wider redevelopment planned to include around 800 homes. 2 The project’s client and developer is GWW Wiesbadener Wohnbaugesellschaft mbH, and the architect is Wiesbaden-based Christ.Christ. associated architects GmbH. 2
The Heinze project record gives a completion date of December 2023; the architect lists the project year as 2023. 2 The development comprises 172 rental apartments in three building volumes, grouped by the architect as eight apartment houses. The architect reports 10,766 m² of residential floor area and 162 subsidised apartments. 2 The homes range from family-sized three-, four- and five-room layouts to two-room apartments intended for older residents. 2
The buildings form a six-storey northern edge that screens the residential area from the railway and Kostheimer Landstraße. 2 Their lower two storeys have brick cladding, above which are light plaster façades in brown, beige and grey tones. 2 To distinguish the repeated building forms, the architects designed a relief pattern in the plaster that divides the façades horizontally and vertically. 2 Living rooms and outdoor spaces face south or southwest toward the river; ground-floor apartments have private gardens. 2
The project combines subsidised and privately financed housing, with the architect describing the mix of apartment types as a way to support a socially and generationally varied neighbourhood. 2 The project team named by the architect includes Roger Christ, Christiane Bolesta, Daniela Linsenmayer, Tasnim Zin, David Lee Hunter, Matteo Lauriola and Jonas Dupps. 2
