Seestadt mg+ is a large urban development in Mönchengladbach, Germany. Catella Project Management is developing the wider quarter on more than 14 hectares near the main railway station and city centre. The plans cover roughly 1,500–2,000 homes, alongside offices, hospitality, services and other uses; the wider development also includes a planned lake of about 20,000 square metres. 23
The Südviertel is the project’s first residential section. It comprises four buildings on Lürriper Straße, with courtyards and play areas. The project page lists 248 apartments, ranging from 1.5 to four rooms, and gives a planned completion of autumn 2023. 2 The homes are intended for a mix of residents, including singles, couples and families, with apartment sizes and layouts varying across the buildings. 2 Catella’s project information describes the first section as completed, while a financing source records 248 rental apartments and 134 underground parking spaces. 2
The Südviertel moved into construction after the city council approved the development plan on 3 September 2020; Catella received the first building permit for the section on 28 October 2020. 48 Catella’s announcement said 90 of the 248 apartments were intended to be publicly subsidised. 8
The sources consulted identify Catella Project Management as developer, but do not provide a project founding date or a complete list of individual project leaders. Klaus Franken, Catella Project Management’s managing partner, is quoted discussing the Seestadt’s development and energy concept. 11
