Ranta-Tampella is a multi-phase residential district being developed as an extension of central Tampere, on the shore of Lake Näsijärvi in Finland.1 Construction began in autumn 2016, and the first residents moved in during 2018.1
The plans cover approximately 16.5 hectares and include more than 2,000 new homes.1 A canal is planned through the district, connecting Lake Näsijärvi to the mouth of Lake Tammerkoski; footbridges and a promenade will line the canal, while a promenade is also planned around the wider district.1
The project involves several participants and has an estimated total value of about €900 million.1 YIT is the largest developer in the area, with building capacity of approximately 80,000 square metres of floor area.1 The overall development is expected to be completed by 2030; YIT lists its status as under construction.1 The available project information does not identify individual project leaders or give a founding date.1
