Former Collège Serin is a conversion of a former school building in Lyon’s 4th arrondissement into a residence for students and young people. The building, dating from the 19th century, had been closed since 2013. 911 The City of Lyon launched a call for proposals to redevelop the site in 2015; the project received its building permit in 2017, and renovation work began in April 2023. 210
The project was led by developers Promoval and Arioste Immobilier, working with heritage architect Cécile Rémond. 210 Alliade Habitat is the housing provider, and the completed residence is managed through Initiall, its housing offer for young people. 411 Promoval reports that the residence was delivered in November 2024. 12
The project retains and adapts the former school for residential use. Plans reported during the redevelopment included studios, one- to four-room apartments, shared accommodation, communal areas, terraces and a shared garden. 210 Sources differ slightly on the final capacity and unit count: Promoval describes 36 homes for 55 students, while the Initiall residence page lists 35 homes. 1213
The residence is intended for students and young adults, including young workers, apprentices and people in training. 11 The project also includes a commercial ground-floor space intended to open the site toward the neighbourhood; Promoval identifies Wine You Want as the occupant. 12
