Écoquartier de Montévrain, also known as Les Roseaux, is a large mixed-use neighbourhood in Montévrain, Seine-et-Marne, in the Île-de-France region of France. It covers about 153 hectares south of the town. 27
The project’s public developer and aménageur is EPAMARNE, working with the town of Montévrain. EPAMARNE began the sustainable-planning process in 2009 by signing an EcoQuartier agreement with the French State and commissioning a new programme study. 11 From 2011, an urban design team led by AtelierphilippeMadec prepared a master plan translating the project’s sustainable-development objectives into planning guidance. 12
Les Roseaux combines housing with shops, offices, hotels, services and public facilities, including schools, childcare, sports and leisure facilities. Official project descriptions give varying final housing estimates: the environmental authority cites about 3,100 homes, while EPAMARNE materials give figures of 3,200 or 3,513. 2713 The development also includes an 18-hectare agro-urban centre intended for urban and local agriculture. 7
The neighbourhood received EcoQuartier label level 3 in 2018, a recognition associated with an advanced stage of delivery. 2 Its agro-urban centre is planned around agriculture and local food production; a 700-square-metre timber market hall, designed by Philippe Madec’s APM Architecture & Associés, was announced as part of that development. 7
