6ème Art Lafayette is a residential conversion in Lyon’s Part-Dieu district, in the city’s 6th arrondissement. The project reuses an approximately 8,000-square-metre office building that formerly served as the Areva-Framatome headquarters. Icade Promotion is the developer. 11
The conversion followed a preliminary agreement signed in December 2022 between Icade Promotion and SCI Lafayette, a company partly owned by Icade’s Office Property Investment Division. Icade announced the project in May 2023, with completion then scheduled for 2026. 11 More recent information gives a revised expected delivery in the first half of 2027. 7
The original announcement described a 15-floor building with 105 high-end homes, including 58 open-market and 46 social housing units, as well as two ground-floor retail spaces. 11 Later project information lists 96 apartments, including 47 social homes, so the reported housing figures have changed over time. 1213 The scheme sits within a wider redevelopment of the Îlot Lafayette, which combines residential and office uses. 12
Clément Vergély Architectes is the project architect. The design reorganises the existing floors for apartments and adds continuous cantilevered balconies to the tower. 11 The wider site plan also includes an open esplanade and a planted garden. 11 Icade’s 2023 announcement said the renovation would avoid an estimated 2,310 tonnes of CO₂ compared with demolition and reconstruction, and listed BBC Effinergie Renovation and NF Habitat HQE renovation certification as targets. 11
