Teleinternetcafe Architektur und Urbanismus, based in Berlin, operates as an architecture and urban planning studio focused on participatory redevelopment projects. It gained prominence in 2019 by winning the urban design competition for Berlin's Haus der Statistik, a 50,000 sqm vacant complex in Mitte. Partnering with Treibhaus Landscape Architects, their entry prevailed through an integrated workshop process involving public participation, Koop5 partners—including the Berlin-Mitte district office and Senate Department—and an expert committee. The design emphasized preserved office buildings, diverse uses like housing and community spaces, and small-scale urban vitality, forming the basis for the site's land-use plan after recommunalization in 2017.
The studio repeated this success in the IBA’27 competition for Backnang West Neighbourhood, a 17-hectare site near Stuttgart. Their concept, with Treibhaus and Buro Happold, proposes three high-density areas blending housing, business, industry, trades, social, cultural, and retail functions for varied societal groups.
Teleinternetcafe contributes to jury panels, such as the German Urban Development Award 2020, and engages in discussions on evolving architecture practices. Its work underscores cooperative, feasibility-driven planning in German urban contexts.
