Staedion is a social housing corporation based in The Hague, Netherlands. Formed in 1999 through the merger of three local housing associations, it has operated for more than 25 years in The Hague and surrounding areas.13 Its headquarters are at Koningin Julianaplein 2 in The Hague.7
The organisation rents about 46,000 homes, shops, business premises and parking spaces in the Haaglanden region; it reports that one in seven homes in The Hague belongs to Staedion.1 Its housing includes social rentals as well as private-sector, student and senior housing. The organisation also offers properties for purchase and manages commercial premises and parking facilities.19
Staedion’s stated mission is to provide suitable homes to people who cannot secure housing independently, and to support neighbourhoods where people can live well together.1 Its work includes renting and managing homes, renovating and improving the energy performance of its properties, and developing additional housing. The organisation says it is working towards building 7,500 new homes, and identifies housing availability, neighbourhood resilience and liveability as priorities in Den Haag and its surrounding area.1
Staedion works with tenants and partner organisations on housing and neighbourhood issues.1 As of May 2026, its two-person executive board is led by chair Miriam Heringa, with Jo van Kalsbeek as financial director.11
