Slovak Investment Holding, a.s. (SIH) is a Bratislava-based Slovak joint-stock company established on 1 May 2014. 34 Its registered office is at Grösslingová 44, Bratislava. 4 SIH is wholly owned by Slovenská záručná a rozvojová banka, which is itself part of the Slovak public-finance system. 312
The organisation’s principal objective is to support public and private investment in strategic sectors in Slovakia. 3 It manages and deploys public and European funding through repayable financial instruments, including preferential loans, guarantees, equity and quasi-equity investments, investment funds, and advisory services. 3 Its activities are directed at both businesses and public-sector projects.
SIH supports small and medium-sized enterprises, start-ups and larger companies seeking capital for expansion, innovation and technological development. 3 It works with commercial banks and investment funds to provide more accessible financing, while also making direct investments in innovative companies. 3 Examples of sectors and projects associated with SIH include energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste management, transport infrastructure, social enterprises, affordable housing, research and development, and cultural and civic infrastructure. 3
The organisation has participated in guarantee programmes designed to maintain business financing during economic crises, including the SIH Anti-Corona Guarantee schemes. 3 It has also established or supported investment vehicles such as the Venture to Future Fund and National Development Fund III. 3 SIH’s geographic scope is primarily national: its mandate, investment activity and partnerships focus on Slovakia, Slovak companies, public authorities, municipalities and regions. 3
