RKD is a Dublin-based architectural firm founded in 1913, originally established by Johnny Robinson and later joined by partners Cyril Keefe and Andrew Devane. The company is now one of the largest and oldest architecture practices in Ireland, with a workforce of around 245 people distributed across offices in Ireland, the UK, Spain, Belgium, Poland, Italy, and Sweden. Its projects span commercial offices, residential developments, universities, healthcare facilities, data centres, and industrial complexes.
Key projects in Dublin include the LinkedIn EMEA headquarters, the Guinness Storehouse, and One Microsoft Place, all highlighting the firm’s influence in both the Irish and international built environment. RKD’s portfolio also ranges to mission-critical infrastructure and pharmaceutical facilities. The firm is experienced in master planning, interior design, project management, and specialist sectors like cleanrooms and laboratories.
Sustainability is integral to RKD’s practice; it became the first large Irish firm to sign the Architects Declare register supporting climate action in construction. RKD is 40% female-owned and employs people from 24 nationalities, speaking 26 languages, with 47% female staff representation. The firm is ISO-certified in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and has invested in digital transformation and remote collaboration tools since introducing BIM 360 in 2018.
In 2016, RKD reported turnover of €11.7 million and has since grown its staff and project base. Its leadership has a tradition of promoting innovation while drawing on over a century of architectural legacy.
