Platform Woonopgave is a Rotterdam-based Dutch nonprofit foundation and alliance of designers and experts from different organisations, formed to contribute to a more liveable Netherlands. Its work addresses housing policy and practice across the country. 23
The platform began on its own initiative in 2022, while its public launch took place in May 2023 in Rotterdam. Architect Sanne van Manen founded it and leads its research and collaborations; the core team has included Barbara Luns, Mark Minkjan, Martijn Feenstra, Violette Schönberger, Inger Kameraat, Madeleine Mans and Muamer Tabakovic. 256
Its central activity is a continuing analysis of the housing challenge, intended to inform design and public discussion and to help develop alternative responses. The platform questions an emphasis on construction numbers alone, arguing for attention to housing quality, affordability and sustainability, and invites experts from related disciplines to contribute. 2510
Platform Woonopgave also organises events where participants can discuss how people in the Netherlands want and are able to live. Its analysis is available for others to use, and the foundation is supported by the Creative Industries Fund NL (Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie). 28
