Operátor ICT is a municipal company established in 2014 that manages Prague's digital transformation and smart city initiatives. Based in Prague's Holešovice district, the organization currently employs between 250 and 499 people and operates as a joint-stock company wholly owned by the City of Prague.
The company's primary function is to implement information technology solutions across Prague's municipal operations. This includes developing digital services for residents, managing the city's website and mobile applications, and overseeing large-scale smart city projects. Operátor ICT also provides ICT consulting and implementation services to Prague's administrative districts and municipal companies.
Beyond standard IT operations, the organization has become known for transparency initiatives. It was the first municipal company in the Czech Republic to publish data on public contracts and later became the first to disclose a comprehensive list of supplier invoices. The company has obtained ISO 37001 certification for its anti-corruption management system and implements performance-based remuneration for its board of directors selected through open tender procedures.
The company's project portfolio demonstrates its technical scope. These include My Prague, a civic information mobile application; intelligent mobility systems optimizing public transit; and smart lighting networks that collect environmental data through sensors installed on lamp posts. Operátor ICT also manages Prague's waste management optimization through underground waste collection monitoring and operates the Golemio platform, an open-source urban data aggregation system providing analytics on transport, migration, environment and energy across the capital.
