Open House Slovenia (Odprte hiše Slovenije, OHS) is a Ljubljana-based platform for contemporary Slovenian architecture and the country’s largest architecture festival. It was established in 2010 by architect Ana Struna Bregar and architecture critic and reviewer Kristina Dešman, according to a published organisational history. 25
OHS connects architects and other built-environment professionals with the public through guided visits, festival events and online resources. Its annual festival opens selected buildings and other architectural projects to visitors, with programmes spanning Slovenia rather than one city. In 2025, the festival offered free expert-led tours of more than 70 projects across the country. 912
The organisation’s website also presents an online guide to contemporary Slovenian architecture, with entries on buildings and urban projects. Open House Worldwide reports that OHS has opened more than 630 architectural and urban projects to the public and describes it as the network’s member representing an entire country, rather than a single city. 39
OHS’s stated aims include raising public awareness of well-designed spaces, supporting spatial literacy and encouraging discussion about architecture and the built environment. Its work has also addressed inclusive and sustainable architecture. It received the Plečnik Medal, Slovenia’s highest architectural award, in 2012 for its contribution to architectural culture. 29
OHS is part of the international Open House network and has participated in the Open House Europe collaboration. 911 The LinkedIn company listing identifies Ljubljana as its headquarters and records 2010 as its founding year. 2
