LUCA – Luxembourg Center for Architecture is a Luxembourg-based private non-profit foundation recognised as serving the public interest. Founded in 1992 as the Fondation de l’Architecture et de l’Ingénierie, it works to promote architectural quality as a cultural concern and to examine issues affecting the people and institutions involved in shaping the built environment.23
LUCA’s programme combines public events with research and documentation. Its activities include lectures, debates, multidisciplinary exhibitions, guided visits and educational programmes for schools and the wider public. It also organises the Luxembourg Architecture Award and contributes to the Venice Architecture Biennale.2 Its resource centre brings together an architecture library and archives; the organisation reports a library of nearly 8,000 references and substantial collections of architectural documents and models.1112
The organisation is based at 1, rue de la Tour Jacob, Luxembourg City.24 Its work is rooted in Luxembourg’s architectural and urban context, while its exhibitions and Biennale participation connect it with international architectural debate.211 Maribel Casas is the director, and architect Marie Lucas is the board president.23
