HSB Malmö is a member-owned regional housing cooperative based in Malmö, Sweden. Founded in 1925, it works across Malmö and surrounding municipalities to plan, finance, build and manage housing. Its main office is at Turning Torso, Lilla Varvsgatan 14, Malmö.12
The organisation offers newly built cooperative apartments and rental homes, as well as housing savings and membership for individuals and housing cooperatives. It also provides property management and development services, education and advice for housing associations and private property owners.128 Its stated operating area includes Malmö, Burlöv, Lomma, Svedala, Trelleborg and Vellinge.28
HSB Malmö is governed by its members: members elect representatives and office-holders who decide the association’s direction, while day-to-day operations are led by its chief executive and staff.1 In 2025, the organisation reported approximately 55,000 members, 260 housing cooperatives and 2,400 rental apartments; the page also lists about 160 employees.1
Since October 2025, HSB Malmö and HSB Göteborg have worked through a shared organisation with common processes and systems where possible. They remain legally separate associations, each with its own board and chief executive, while pursuing a possible future merger.18 Michael Carlsson is due to remain HSB Malmö’s chief executive through 31 March 2027, after announcing his departure from the role.11
