Hof Prädikow eG is a community-led housing and work project in Prötzel OT Prädikow, Brandenburg, about an hour east of Berlin, that combines living, work, culture, and social activity on a historic rural estate.246 The organisation presents itself as a modern continuation of the “old” role of the countryside, aiming to build a viable community through shared residential, cultural, educational, and economic uses.24
The project is rooted in a former manor and farm complex with 9 hectares of land and 14 listed buildings, and it has been gradually reactivated since 2016 by a group of committed residents and supporters.25 The site now hosts around 60 residents according to the homepage, while external sources describe a growing community of adults and children living there.456 A central element is the Scheune Prädikow, a former tractor barn reopened in 2021 as the public heart of the site, used for coworking, workshops, cultural and educational events, seminars, private celebrations, and meetings.14
In practical terms, Hof Prädikow operates as a local platform for affordable and sustainable rural living: it offers housing, shared spaces, a café/bar, regular guided tours, and public events, while also contributing to village life in a small settlement of roughly 250 residents.234 The project has a clear connection to sustainable housing because it reuses historic buildings, supports mixed-use community living, and promotes long-term stewardship of a large heritage site rather than single-purpose redevelopment.257
The organisation’s geographic scope is primarily local, focused on Prädikow and the surrounding Märkisch-Oderland / Märkische Schweiz region.245
