Glòria Duran Arquitecte is an architecture practice based near Barcelona, active in residential, hospitality, and civic projects primarily throughout Catalonia. Founded and led by architect Glòria Duran Torrellas, the studio’s work balances historical preservation with contemporary design, particularly in building rehabilitation, interior design, and new construction.
The organisation has been responsible for the restoration and adaptation of notable historic buildings, such as medieval farmhouses and nineteenth-century factories, transforming them into modern homes while maintaining their architectural heritage. For instance, its rehabilitation of the CAN RAJOLER farmhouse involved reconfiguring 678 square meters within a 3,010 square meter site, integrating original ceramic-making structures from the eighteenth century with new spaces like a spa and a gym. Another example is the refurbishment of a two-story farmhouse in Pals, featuring the careful retention of exposed stone walls and wooden beams alongside the introduction of minimalist interiors and a modern pool.
The studio covers a diverse scope of activities, including urban residential complexes, standalone houses, hotel interiors, restaurant and spa design, and civic spaces such as social centres. Projects range from large-scale endeavors, like the design of a 16,000 square meter hotel, to smaller commissions, such as lighting design.
