Ekopanely Servis s.r.o. is a Czech family-owned company that specializes in the production of ecological building boards made from compressed cereal straw. Founded in 1999, Ekopanely was the first company in Europe to manufacture these straw-based panels, a practice rooted in mid-20th-century postwar construction methods. The company’s manufacturing facility is located in Jedousov, near Přelouč, which is approximately 90 kilometers east of Prague. It operates two automated production lines with an annual output exceeding 100,000 square meters of panels.
Ekopanely boards consist of about 95% straw, pressed at high temperature and pressure, with a recycled cardboard covering. No chemical binders are used, making the panels fully recyclable and classified as a natural product. These panels are notable for their mechanical strength, thermal insulation, fire resistance, and soundproofing qualities. Certified according to EU standards, they are installed in a range of structures from new houses to attic conversions and commercial spaces. The company has realized over 600 projects in the Czech Republic and exports its product to 48 countries worldwide.
A notable project is a family house in Mnichovice, near Prague, constructed using the Ekopanely system. Ekopanely Servis s.r.o. manages the entire process from design and manufacturing to construction, offering not just materials but also technical support, project documentation, and training. The company has received several industry accolades, including awards from the Czech Construction Academy and the Czech Chamber of Commerce.
