Cooperativa Edificatrice Giuseppe Dozza is a housing cooperative based in Bologna, Italy. It was established in 1920 as La Federale a proprietà inalienabile ed indivisibile, initially taking over a 16-home development on Via Jacopo della Quercia. The cooperative adopted its current name in 1980, following a period of consolidation that included mergers with the housing cooperatives Urbanistica Nuova and Avvenire Proletario. 8
Its core activity is providing homes for members to use on a permanent basis. The cooperative retains ownership of its housing stock, while homes are assigned to members through occupancy arrangements. Its portfolio grew through public housing programmes and building projects; the cooperative reports more than 1,300 homes across Bologna and its province. 26
The organisation’s work is primarily local and provincial, rather than national: its housing is located in Bologna and surrounding municipalities. Its activities include both the management of housing and participation in social-housing initiatives. For example, the City of Bologna identified the cooperative as the proponent of a collaborative-housing project at Viale Lenin, planned to include approximately 10 homes and shared spaces. 69
The registered office is at Via Francesco Zanardi 184 in Bologna. 510 The cooperative’s historical profile identifies the founding date as 9 July 1920; its own publication gives 6 July 1920, so the precise day differs between sources. 28
