Bydgoska Spółdzielnia Mieszkaniowa is a housing cooperative based in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Its history dates to 13 June 1890, when German railway officials established “Beamten-Wohnungsverein” GmbH, identified by BSM as its legal predecessor. 1 The cooperative’s name and legal form changed over time; it was re-registered in June 1925 as Towarzystwo Mieszkaniowe Spółdzielnia z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością w Bydgoszczy. 1
BSM’s stated purpose is to meet housing and related needs of people holding legal rights to residential and commercial premises, as well as garages in its housing stock. It does so through building and infrastructure maintenance, administration, user support and the management of property-related costs. 1 The organisation reports that its present holdings include 248 residential buildings and 295 commercial premises. 1 Its housing stock is located across five Bydgoszcz districts: Śródmieście, Błonie, Szwederowo, Górzyskowo and Wzgórze Wolności.
The cooperative says it still manages 28 tenement buildings dating from its early period; 33 were built before the First World War. 1 Its headquarters are at ul. Grunwaldzka 12, 85-236 Bydgoszcz. 7 The listed management team includes Tadeusz Stańczak as president and director, and Wojciech Michalak as deputy president and deputy director for technical and operational affairs. 2
BSM’s activities are local, serving residential communities and property users in Bydgoszcz. Its website also publishes cooperative notices, tenders, maintenance-related information and resident resources. 110
