BORI BBL is a Norwegian housing cooperative established in 1946 and based in Lillestrøm. The organisation developed from a local housing cooperative serving Romerike into a housing association with activities extending across Norway.1418 BORI BBL is member-owned and registered as a boligbyggelag, the Norwegian cooperative housing-association model.1112
Its central service is membership-based pre-emption rights. Members can obtain priority to purchase new and existing homes connected to BORI and, through reciprocal arrangements, homes associated with other housing cooperatives across Norway.1419 The pre-emption system allows an eligible member to take over a purchase agreement at the accepted price, subject to the applicable rules and deadlines.1720 BORI states that members have access to pre-emption rights on more than 75,000 homes.16
BORI also develops and sells residential projects, with members receiving priority access to BORI developments.19 For developers, it offers the LeieEie and DelEie med Sparing purchase models; under these arrangements, BORI can acquire up to 20% of the units in a project.15 The organisation also provides property-management services for housing cooperatives and condominiums, including financial administration, health and safety work, and ongoing board support across the country.115
In 2022, the BORI group managed 744 client organisations, mainly housing cooperatives and condominiums, while members held pre-emption rights in 238 housing companies. Johnny Brevik is BORI BBL’s managing director, and Åge Lien is chair of the board.49 The registered office is at Tærudgata 16 in Lillestrøm; BORI has also reported local offices in Mysen and Oslo.113
