Association CoopSVP is a residents’ cooperative located in the Paris region, France, dedicated to the development and management of collective housing projects. Established as a cooperative of inhabitants, its core mission is to provide self-managed, collectively owned housing solutions for its members, distinct from traditional social housing models. CoopSVP operates primarily within Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, an ambitious redevelopment site in Paris’s 14th arrondissement, repurposing former hospital grounds for new forms of urban living.
The association emerged in the mid-2010s, following a surge in interest for participatory and cooperative housing models in metropolitan France. Its governing structure is collaborative, with members actively involved in decision-making and the management of their shared property. CoopSVP’s model is anchored in the principle of non-speculative ownership, ensuring that housing stock remains collectively owned and resistant to real estate market pressures.
Current projects include the transformation of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul into a multi-building, mixed-use cooperative, comprising around 60 homes allocated for a diverse membership—families, singles, and seniors. Construction began in 2022, with anticipated deliveries starting in late 2024. The cooperative is involved at every stage, from project design with architects to establishing guidelines for communal spaces, resource-sharing, and governance mechanisms.
Association CoopSVP’s activities are strictly localized, focused on housing development, member support, and advocacy for participatory urbanism in Paris. It does not operate nationally or offer services outside its resident community. The cooperative’s governance, funding model, and project scope are publicly documented, providing transparency in both its planning and daily operations.
