Asociația PRIN BANAT is a non-profit organisation based in Timișoara, Romania. It was established in 2016 as a legal continuation of an earlier editorial project, with the aim of documenting and promoting local heritage and encouraging cultural tourism in the historic Banat region, which spans parts of Romania, Serbia and Hungary.2511
The association’s work includes research and documentation, cultural projects, and public engagement around the region’s built, natural and intangible heritage. Its projects include Heritage of Timișoara, Cămine în Mișcare / Moving Fireplaces, Centriphery and Ambulanța pentru Monumente Banat.28 Alexandra Palconi-Sitov is identified as the association’s founder and president, and as a co-founder of Heritage of Timișoara.47
Heritage of Timișoara is a digital research and documentation platform developed by the association. It presents information about Timișoara’s architecture and building histories, alongside archival images and other resources about the city’s multicultural past.3 The project has also involved research into historic neighbourhoods, cultural events and public-facing heritage activities; its annual editions have focused on different areas of the city.71112 The association’s wider geographic remit is the historic Banat region, while Heritage of Timișoara focuses on the city and its built heritage.238
