A.R.T.E. Genova—formally the Azienda Regionale Territoriale per l’Edilizia della Provincia di Genova—is a public economic entity and an operational body of the Liguria Region. It was established through the transformation provided for by Regional Law No. 9 of 12 March 1998. 2
Its purpose is to improve housing conditions and respond to housing needs, with particular attention to people on lower incomes. ARTE’s work includes developing and managing subsidised, supported and agreed-rent public housing; acquiring, building and restoring homes; and managing, maintaining and upgrading its housing stock. 24 The organisation also undertakes urban and building regeneration and can support the Region and local authorities in planning and delivering housing and other territorial programmes. 24
ARTE Genova is based in Genoa and primarily operates across the former Province of Genoa; its statute allows it to work in other provinces in agreement with the locally responsible housing agency. 35 The organisation reports managing more than 11,000 homes. 4 Its activities include assigning homes, administering the public housing stock and carrying out maintenance and technical work. 410
The sole administrator identified on ARTE’s current organisational pages is Paolo Gallo. 1112 The organisation’s website also shows work relating to housing allocation and sales, including a permanent-rental housing call for 20 homes in Genoa and the sale of remaining public-housing properties. 1
