The UERA Conference 2026, titled “Urban Transformation in a New Geopolitical Era? Nexus Thinking in Energy, Food, Ecological and Mobility Transition,” will take place from February 4 to 6, 2026, in Strasbourg, France, at the University of Strasbourg's MISHA and European Doctoral College.
Organized by the Urban Europe Research Alliance (UERA), it is hosted by the Institute for Urbanism and Regional Development (IUAR), the research unit Societies, Actors and Government in Europe (SAGE), and the Interdisciplinary thematic institute MAKErS – Making European Society.
This transdisciplinary event connects scholars, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to explore innovative strategies for systemic urban transformations linking energy, food, ecological, and mobility transitions to sustainable, inclusive futures. Key themes include socio-spatial dynamics between urban/rural areas, technology's role in sustainability, nexus thinking amid geopolitical shifts, circular economies, governance, and resilience.
Abstracts (300–500 words for oral or poster presentations) are due by October 14, 2025, via the Sciencesconf platform, with author notifications by November 22, 2025. Registration opens November 3, 2025. Attendance is free, including DUT workshops, with top papers eligible for Springer publication. A provisional program is available online.
