Seniorenwohnungen Haus St. Florin is a municipal housing project in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. The Municipality of Vaduz developed the apartments as part of the new Haus St. Florin social centre and rents them directly to eligible residents. The apartments occupy the building’s top floor; the wider complex also includes a care home and social-service facilities.3
The project comprises nine two-room apartments, sized from 60 to 65 square metres and intended for one or two people. Each has a living and sleeping area, kitchen and shower room. Most have a balcony; shared facilities include a roof garden or terrace and communal rooms. The apartments are designed to support independent living, with access to specific services from the Liechtensteinische Alters- und Krankenhilfe (LAK) if needed.
Applicants must have reached pension age and have lived in Vaduz for at least five years. The municipality maintains a waiting list and allocates apartments according to the urgency of an applicant’s housing needs and their physical condition. Applicants must provide medical confirmation that they can manage their own care when signing a tenancy agreement.
The application form does not give a founding date or name individual project leaders. The apartments were included in the redevelopment of Haus St. Florin: municipal records from 2006 describe the joint project by the municipality and LAK, while a 2009 municipal report notes that residents had moved into the completed building.38 The form identifies the municipality as the apartments’ developer and landlord, and LAK as the care and support provider.
