Paris Magenta is the conversion of a former postal sorting centre on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis in Paris’s 10th arrondissement, near Gare de l’Est and Square Alban-Satragne. The building was designed by architect Jean-Baptiste Mathon and built in 1965. 2
La Poste Immobilier, the property subsidiary of the La Poste Group, led the redevelopment as direct project owner, working with architecture firm Naud & Poux and contractor Paris Ouest Construction. The project repurposed the existing building rather than replacing it, turning a former industrial and postal site into a mixed-use complex. 2
The completed programme brings together 83 homes: 35 social-rental apartments managed by Toit et Joie and 48 homes for sale. Other uses include a post office, MitWit coworking space, underground urban-logistics facilities and rooftop urban agriculture. The rooftop terrace covers 650 square metres and is planned for vegetable gardens and a food-producing micro-forest. 2
The redevelopment responds both to housing needs and to the continued presence of postal services in the neighbourhood. The former sorting centre and post office had also contained about ten homes before the works. 2 The new residence was officially inaugurated in January 2025, following two and a half years of construction, according to the 10th arrondissement’s municipal account. 3
The project’s developer is La Poste Immobilier. The source material describes the work and its programme but does not give a founding date for the project; the building itself dates from 1965. 23
