Luttre is a social-housing conversion project in Forest, Brussels, developed by Zuiderhaard and the Brussels Regional Housing Company (BGHM). The partners inaugurated 63 homes in the former industrial building on 23 September 2026. 1
The complex occupies about 11,000 square metres at the corner of Avenue du Pont de Luttre and Rue du Charroi. Formerly used by the company Diamant Boart, the building was purchased in 2016 and converted by the architecture practice Matador/CLN. 1
The design retained existing structures, limited demolition and reused materials. The 63 apartments range from one to six bedrooms and each has a loggia and a winter garden. New timber structures provide thermal and acoustic insulation. 1 The ground floor includes new offices for Zuiderhaard and a shared multipurpose space. 1
Key people associated with the project include Dorien Robben, deputy director-general of BGHM, and Matthieu Tihon and Samira Benallal, respectively chair and vice-chair of Zuiderhaard. Brussels Housing State Secretary Karine Lalieux also welcomed the project. 1 Robben described the conversion as an example of adapting a former industrial building for housing, while Zuiderhaard’s representatives presented the reuse of industrial sites as one response to the Brussels housing shortage. 1
