Le Carr'étoile is a participatory housing project located in the Bron-Terraillon neighborhood of Bron, a commune adjacent to Lyon, France. This innovative residential development is part of the larger NOVA program and represents a modern approach to sustainable, affordable urban housing.
The project comprises 13 housing units ranging from two to four-bedroom apartments, combining both direct ownership and cooperative housing options. Nine units are available through the Habitat & Partage cooperative, offering enhanced financial accessibility, while four units are available for direct purchase at significantly reduced prices of 2,950 euros per square meter, approximately 30 percent below market rates for new construction. The development prioritizes environmental performance, meeting the stringent RE2020 energy efficiency standards applicable as of 2025.
Beyond affordability and sustainability, Le Carr'étoile emphasizes community living. The project brings together an established group of households, including families with children, who are creating a shared neighborhood atmosphere. Residents benefit from common spaces including a shared kitchen facility, mutualized laundry room, guest bedroom with terrace, and 25 square meters of shared storage cave space. The development is situated in the ZAC Bron-Terraillon, a major urban renewal zone designed to strengthen neighborhood integration and promote ecological transition.
The location offers exceptional connectivity to Lyon's metropolitan area. By 2030, the district will gain access to the new T8 tramway line and a BHNS high-level bus service, enabling rapid and direct access to central Lyon. Construction began following the filing of building permits, with work expected to commence at the end of 2025 and residential delivery anticipated for the end of 2027. This participatory model allows residents to actively shape their living environment through collaborative workshops and decision-making processes.
