De Hillside is a completed housing project on Paasheuvelweg in Amsterdam’s Amstel III district, an area being transformed from an office park into a mixed neighbourhood for living, working and recreation. The project combines the conversion of an outdated office building with a new residential building beside it.12
The development delivers 233 homes: 217 in the social-rent sector and 16 in the mid-range rent category. The existing office building was converted into 57 homes, with a two-level parking deck added above it; the adjacent new-build tower contains 176 homes and is 17 storeys tall.23 The project also includes shared resident facilities, hospitality and commercial space, bicycle parking and storage.13
B-Right Urban Living and Doniger Urban Developments are identified as the project’s developers. The owner is Maatschap Paasheuvelweg, described by B-Right as a partnership involving B-Right and Doniger; Doniger’s project information says B-Right participates in the investment and acts as delegated developer.14 De Loods Architecten designed the project, and Dura Vermeer carried out the construction.13
The project was handed over in 2023, although Doniger reports that the apartments were completed and rented by the end of 2022.14 Hillside forms part of the wider Amstel III transformation, where the project partners worked with the municipality and other local stakeholders.13
