At 44 rue de l’Amiral Mouchez in Paris’s 14th arrondissement, an office building dating from the 1950s has been converted into social housing. The building previously housed CNRS offices and later served as an Emmaüs residence. The project was delivered in 2025. 11112
The developer and project owner is RIVP, a social housing provider; Pluriel[les] Architectes designed the renovation. The architectural practice was founded in Paris in 2016 by architects Marcela Garin and Caroline Lattwein. 11138
The redevelopment produced 17 social housing units, reported as ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom apartments. 1114 The existing concrete structure was retained, while the internal layout was redesigned for residential use. The work also included a two-storey extension, restored façades, new circulation arrangements and outdoor areas, including loggias and terraces. 1114
The extension uses timber in its structure and façade, while the project also incorporates bio-based insulation and reused materials. These measures accompanied the retention of much of the existing building rather than its replacement. 1114 The site is near Parc Montsouris and lies in a protected area, which shaped the redevelopment’s constraints. 111
