Woonin is a Dutch housing association serving the Utrecht region, with activities in Utrecht, Nieuwegein, Houten and Wijk bij Duurstede.6 It was formed on 1 January 2023 through the merger of Mitros, which operated in Utrecht and Nieuwegein, and Viveste, which served Wijk bij Duurstede and Houten.6
The association rents around 35,000 social housing homes at affordable prices, primarily to people with low incomes.613 Its work also includes building new homes, maintaining and renovating existing properties, and improving energy performance through measures such as insulation and solar panels.12 Woonin works with municipalities, other housing associations, building partners and community organisations, and describes improving neighbourhood liveability as part of its role.13
Woonin’s stated regional focus is reflected in its work across four municipalities in the Utrecht area. Its registered address is Koningin Wilhelminalaan 9 in Utrecht, also identified as its headquarters.38 The organisation has about 500 employees.
Henk Peter Kip is Woonin’s director; the organisation’s website says he has held the role since 2012, first at Mitros and then at Woonin.11 Woonin’s current name dates from 2023, although its predecessor organisations and housing work have longer histories.612
