Utcáról Lakásba! Egyesület is a Hungarian public-benefit nonprofit organisation based in Budapest. Its registered headquarters are at Thököly út 21, 1076 Budapest. The organisation’s stated purpose is to help people experiencing homelessness—particularly those living in public spaces—move into social rental housing.6
The association develops and operates housing programmes based on independent living and social support. It works with municipalities and private individuals to establish a network of social rental homes and operates a housing agency.6 Its main “From Shack to Home” programme renovates unused or poor-condition municipal rental properties and enables homeless individuals and families to move into them while paying income-based social rent.5 Intensive social work accompanies the housing provision, reflecting a Housing First-oriented approach described by the organisation.1
