Urbainity is a Hamburg-based organization specializing in project development and architecture with a focus on sustainable urban transformation. Founded in 2023 as a successor to Metropol Grund, Urbainity leverages fourteen years of previous experience through its team, which has overseen the creation of 900 apartments, secured planning permission for 200,000 square meters, and developed 80,000 square meters of commercial space in northern Germany.
The company operates out of Winterstraße 4–8 in Hamburg’s Altona district and positions itself as both an investor and service developer in urban projects. Urbainity's approach is characterized by a strong emphasis on ecological and social responsibility, with explicit goals to create healthier and more environmentally conscious urban spaces.
A current flagship project is the Urbainity Bridge campus in Hamburg-Barmbek. The site will combine workplaces, laboratory units, training facilities, and medical spaces within a 13,300-square-meter timber-hybrid structure aiming for carbon neutrality and reduced building emissions. More than 900 jobs are expected to be created on the campus. Sustainable features include green roofs, intensive planting, and use of low-pollutant building materials, with a goal of achieving at least DGNB Gold certification.
Since the transition from Metropol Grund, Urbainity has positioned itself as a regional actor aiming to set standards in sustainable development, focusing on the actual implementation of projects rather than rhetoric or branding. The organization’s core activity remains the design and realization of built environments with a direct local impact.
