Südviertelhof eG is a tenant cooperative behind a multigenerational housing project in Münster, Germany. Its community grew out of the Münster mittendrin association, founded in 2011 to promote communal living and seek a suitable site; Hiltrud Wegehaupt was one of the project’s initiators, and Birgit Leonhard was identified as a member of the cooperative’s board in 2024. 12
The project was completed in 2024 and built by Wohn+Stadtbau GmbH. It comprises three residential blocks with 57 apartments and two guest rooms on a 4,750-square-metre site. The apartments range from two to five rooms and 41 to 100 square metres; 36 are publicly subsidised and 23 privately financed. All are barrier-free and have a loggia. 611
A distinctive feature is four cluster-living areas, each grouping four small units around a shared kitchen and living space. Shared facilities include communal rooms, a workshop, an inner courtyard, terraces and a green roof terrace. The site also has an elevator in each block, underground parking with electric-vehicle charging, bicycle parking and a photovoltaic system. 1
The cooperative is governed through a board, supervisory board and general assembly. Members also take part in working groups on matters including occupancy, finance, sustainability, organisational development and leisure activities. 3 Its activities and housing project are centred on Münster; available sources do not indicate a wider geographic remit. 13
