Regenero Oy, established in 2016, was a property development company based in the Helsinki metropolitan area, formed as a joint venture by Finland’s largest construction firm, YIT, and the real estate developer and investor HGR Property Partners. The company focused on the development of large-scale, mixed-use projects, particularly in Espoo and the wider Helsinki region. Rather than limiting itself to a single building type, Regenero specialized in combining residential, office, and commercial spaces within singular developments, aiming for urban regeneration in prominent locations.
One of its most notable projects was the acquisition and transformation of the iconic Fortum headquarters in Keilaniemi—known locally as Raaden hammas or the Accountor Tower—into a modern office high-rise. After the purchase in 2017, Regenero arranged new leases, including a major agreement with the financial software company Accountor, which gave the building its current name and ensured continued office use in the district. Regenero’s portfolio also included the redevelopment of properties in Otaniemi, such as their inaugural project at Tietotie 6, and planning work for the extensive Keilaniemenranta waterfront area.
The company operated as a 50-50 joint venture, balancing HGR’s experience in real estate investment and YIT’s strengths in construction execution. Regenero’s business model covered the entire property development value chain, from project financing and planning to realization and leasing. In 2022, Regenero’s operations were wound down, and ongoing projects were transferred to a new entity, Keilaniemen Kiinteistökehitys Strike Ky, reflecting a restructuring among its shareholder partners.
