The Rassemblement Bruxellois pour le Droit à l’Habitat (RBDH), also known by its Dutch name Brusselse Bond voor het Recht op Wonen (BBRoW), is a bilingual coalition of roughly 60 associations working on housing issues in Brussels. Its members defend the right to housing and seek access to decent, affordable homes, with particular attention to people in vulnerable situations. 136
Founded in 1999, the RBDH was established as a coalition of nonprofit organisations responding to the shortage of affordable housing in Brussels. Fifteen organisations signed its founding act in spring 1999. 1112 The organisation is based at Quai du Hainaut 29, box 4, in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Brussels. 18
Its work combines research, public advocacy, training and coordination among member organisations. The RBDH produces housing analyses and studies, organises training, and convenes members to develop shared positions and proposals. It also takes part in regional consultative bodies, including the Conseil Consultatif du Logement and the Commission Régionale de Développement, where it contributes opinions and recommendations. 67
The organisation focuses primarily on Brussels and the Brussels-Capital Region. Its activities include raising awareness of housing rights, opposing discrimination in access to housing, and pressing decision-makers for policy changes. It is also accredited to receive reports of vacant homes and forward them to the Brussels regional authority’s vacant-housing unit. 68
The RBDH’s website identifies Chloé Thôme as its press contact; the available organisational information does not identify a director or president. 16
