Poznańska Spółdzielnia Mieszkaniowa (PSM) is a housing cooperative based in Poznań, Poland. Its history traces back to the city’s late-19th-century housing-cooperative movement, including the building cooperatives “Dom Przemysłowy” and “Pomoc”; PSM was registered under its present name on 28 December 1948. 1
Following a 1949 reorganisation of housing cooperatives in Poznań, PSM brought together local cooperatives, including some with roots in the 19th century. During the 1960s and 1970s it undertook major housing development, building estates in Winogrady and later Piątkowo. In 1983, PSM “Winogrady” was separated from PSM as part of a division between housing administration and investment activity. 1
PSM subsequently developed several estates, including Bolesława Chrobrego, Jana III Sobieskiego, Bolesława Śmiałego, Władysława Łokietka, Marysieńki, Stefana Batorego, Władysława Jagiełły and Zygmunta Starego. 1 The cooperative says it now administers more than 1.1 million square metres of residential and commercial space, with over 30,000 people living in properties it owns or manages; it had 19,624 members at the end of 2022. 1
Under its statute, PSM’s purpose includes meeting members’ and their families’ housing needs, as well as economic, cultural, sports and educational needs connected with life in a cooperative estate or building. 1 Its registered office is at Osiedle Bolesława Chrobrego 117, Poznań. 3 The management listed on PSM’s website comprises President Maciej Graczyk and Deputy President Grzegorz Maćkowiak. 2
