Powszechna Spółdzielnia Mieszkaniowa „Przymorze” is a housing cooperative based in Gdańsk, Poland, serving the Dolna Oliwa area of the city. Its history dates to 16 February 1959, when 36 people signed the founding document at the cooperative’s first general meeting. The first construction work began in April of that year, and the first flats were handed over in 1960. 14
The cooperative developed the Małe Przymorze and Duże Przymorze neighbourhoods, the latter known for its long gallery-access apartment blocks, or “falowce.” Its website reports that the estate grew to include more than 15,000 flats. 1 The organisation’s main office is at ul. Czarny Dwór 12 in Gdańsk; it also lists four local estate administrations. 12
Its work includes managing and maintaining the housing estate, carrying out repairs and modernisation, and providing community and cultural activities. The cooperative describes clubs and a cultural centre offering activities for children and older residents, including arts, excursions, events and sport. 1 The neighbourhood includes commercial and service facilities, health centres, churches, schools and libraries, some of which cooperate with the local clubs. 1
The current board president named on the cooperative’s website is engineer Władysław Wojtkiewicz. 3 The available sources describe its activities and housing resources in Gdańsk; they do not indicate a national or international remit. 12
